Solubility of water in mixtures of (<i>n</i>-alkanes + <i>n</i>-perfluoroalkanes) and in <i>n</i>-perfluoroalkylalkanes: experiments and modelling with the SAFT-<i>γ</i> Mie group-contribution approach

The solubility of water in liquid n-perfluorohexane and an equimolar mixture n-hexane + is experimentally determined as a function temperature. the significantly higher than average solubilities pure solvents suggesting, for first time, that mixing hydrogenated perfluorinated chains enhances water. also theoretically with SAFT-γ Mie group-contribution approach, allowing direct quantitative estimate how much large deviations from ideality contribute to mixture. In addition, approach used represent number n-perfluoroalkylalkanes, covering range relative lengths chains. theory can be predict extent different solvents, good agreement experimental data. This accomplished by using single parameter describe strong attractive interaction between CH2CF2 group at junction segments, which known responsible increased these substances.
